The year 1891 was an important one with preliminary meetings to form the N.Z.R.F.U. being held.
Bush did not attend but let it be known that they agreed with the idea.
Club rugby was played with Eketahuna, again successful. On 14th August, the first Bush teams played.
The match was against Wairarapa at Masterton and resulted in a 14 – 0 win to the home team.
During the match, R. Broughton was unfortunate enough to break one of his legs, and as it was not the custom to have emergencies, Bush Saw out the rest of the game one man short.
